SUN 19th November 2017 168Well, the forecasts were correct. There was something there for everybody. The wind direction constantly varied during the morning which required the sailing committee to consider course changes for each race.

On a cool damp morning with the wind South at 15 knots, eight of us set out in B rig into a windward leeward course. Dennis, with an old TS2, won the first race but was always pushed by John Mc and Andrew.

SUN 17th SEPTEMBER 2017 CLUB CHAMPS RD2 205The forecast south easterly breeze was on point with good breeze from the start. The wind ranged from 5 knots briefly through to 15 knots in the gusts however was very comfortable in A rig all day.

Handicap Racing -  27 August, 2017.

A typical shifty light south westerly wind greeted the 11 skippers for our club handicap racing today. Wins were shared among 8 skippers today and only 8 points separated the first 7 place getters. Obviously our handicap system works well.

Racing was underway shortly after 9:30 with the wind from a very southerly direction and between 2 to 6 knots. A two lap course was set by the Pro with a start/finish line in the middle of the course.

Nick Day1 48Another successful year for the Eddie Cowell Perpetual Trophy, the event seems to be getting bigger every year and this event was no different with close to 50 Skippers attending the event.

WMRMYC hosted round 2 of the interclub challenge between Moreton and Wynnum Manly clubs. The event is best described as a friendly competition designed to encourage interaction between members and showcase sailing venues.

This event was recently conceived with the aim of promoting interaction between members of both clubs, provide an additional and novel sailing opportunity and to create a friendly competition that we all hope will become a permanent fixture on the calendar.

Well not the best start to the day with heavy showers till around 9:15.  I’m sure this kept a lot of our sailors away for the first round of the club championships but with 7 boats turning up and the rain stopped it was decided to sail.

The last handicapped racing day for the season was held down in manly harbour. The weather was perfect for sailing with the winds coming down the main channel allowing an even upwind leg.
