WMRMYC Inc Scratch Summer Series Round 3, Manly - 7th January 2018 (2)

The first racing for 2018 kicked off this weekend for Round 3 of the Scratch Summer Series. With Peter setting the course for a light Nor’easter and sending us on a port course of 2 triangles and 1 sausage.

This combination seemed to keep the fleet clear of each other and gave us a decent upwind work, the only adjustment needed was the start line as the tide allowed.

Racing got underway just before 10 with 11 starters and all skippers were told to keep on the grass and clear of the footpath, this seemed to work well and gave us all plenty of shade as the sun started to kick in. There were 5 different winners for the 10 races and a lot of close finishes keeping Bruce on his toes. I was finally able to show the ability of the K2 with some solid wins, Peter also seems to be getting the hang of his 4000th boat he has built (RED), Andrew sailing his Pikanto also had a solid day and without 2 DNFs as drops he might have challenged Peter for 2nd. Another mention has to go to Scott after starting off slowly and also helping out new members while he was racing in his first race, Scott came home strong being the 2nd best boat for the 2nd swing of racing.

All skippers must be thanked for a well sailed day with minimal infringements. Also a big thanks to John, Bruce, Peter and Scott for all the work you guys put in to get us sailing each week.
